Problem with resizing processing window image/png 2007-10-26 14:08 473.65 KB

Description:   Opened: 2007-10-21 03:29
When I resize the window of processing, the anchoring of the window does
not work. Although the window resizes it contents remain the same size.

Problem with resizing processing window

Hi, here is the attachment. This is still applicable for version 133
Additional Comment #3 From fry 2007-10-26 14:10
and which java are you using? i've never seen that on my ubuntu machine, so
i'm confused where it's coming from.
Additional Comment #4 From bozzu 2007-10-26 14:21
The version of Java is 1.6.0_02.
The version of Ubuntu is 7.10.

I have just found out a work around.

I disabled and re-enabled the Visual Effects while it was open. And it did
the trick.

But the problem still occurs when I close and reopen. Although if by
default I set the the visual effects to off, the resize works fine.

If you have any news about this let me know pls.

Apart from that I really liked Processing! This is the future :) Keep up
the good work, I wish I could contribute more than that, but I am still a
beginner.

k, so this is something outside processing...either your window manager or
the java install that's goofing things up, but the environment is not
getting a proper resize event fired for the window components.

Hmmm... what is strange is that I have other Java programs that do not have
this problem.

nothing has changed in the editor layout code in dozens of releases. what
has changed is 1) a new version of ubuntu, and 2) a new version of java.

are you guys using the version of java included with the processing
download, or have you removed the 'java' folder and symlinked your own? if
you've done the latter, have you tried it with the original java? have you
tried this with an older version of processing?

wonder if it's a window manager thing (i've not since it on either ubuntu
box)... i've not seen this on either of my ubuntu setups (7.10 on x86 and
8.04 on x86_64) so i'm still wondering what the problem is. if it's
something that we're doing wrong, i'm happy to fix, but it doesn't seem to
be the case so far at least...

i have ubuntu 8.04 on x86_64 and i'm running processing with its included
java version.

when i have the "visual effects" on, the pde content doesn't resize. but,
when i turn the effects off, the resizing works properly.

This is a bug in Sun's Java implementation, or how the window manager
interacts with Java. Please file a bug with Ubuntu or Sun.
