All of sketches using default JAVA2D renderer are around 4-5 frames per
second, even small resolutions, applications and applets. All other
renderers: P2D, P3D, OPENGL working well.
Processing revision 170 and 184 with Sun java 1.5 and 1.6 (each of 4
combinations). Linux distribution Ubuntu Karmic 9.10, ATI mobillity radeon
HD 2600 XT, fglrx (closed-source) driver, dual core 2gh i686 32-bit
processors. No error messages. No idea at all (???)

even running inside vmware, with apt running in the background, i have no
problem getting 60 fps from a sketch using the default renderer. sounds
like something is broken with your setup.
