TomC: Christan, toxi and I fixed this problem on my machine this evening by
disabling vertical sync (vsync) on the graphics card.
not sure what else can be done here, because it's not clear whether it's a
Processing issue or OpenGL issue.
marking WONTFIX for now unless someone else has ideas on what's going on.
also, sometimes the issue is related to hyperthreading machines, which is a
separate issue:
