Should the compiler complain when primitive calls are added between
beginShape/endShape. I know the reference says not to do it, but I've been
testing it with P2D and I get very varied results with a quiet compiler?

Yeah, to do this would create a lot of overhead in the code. I've had it on
the todo list as a possibility, I'll mark this as an enhancement, in case
we want to do more enforcement later.
